we are given, f(x) = x + (1+2x) / x
I am assuming you have to solve for x when f(x) = 0
x + (1+2x) / x = 0
multiply both sides of = by x
x^2 + 2x +1 = 0
(x+1)*(x+1) = 0
x = -1
