point A is at the coordinates of (1,-3)
point B is at the coordinates of (2,0)
point C is at the coordinates of (3,5)
the average rate of change is the change in y divided by the change in x.
from A to B, that becomes (0 - (-3)) / (2 - 1) which becomes 3/1.
from A to C, that becomes (5 - (-3)) / (3 - 1) which becomes 8/2 which is the same as 4/1.
the average slope from A to C is equal to 4 while the average slope from A to B is equal to 3 so the average slope from A to C is more than the average slope from A to B.
based on the possible solutions to the problem, i would pick selection A.
