Question 657288: Construct a scatterplot for the (x,Y) values below, and answer the following questions. However, you DO NOT need to submit your scatterplot with your answer; however, SHOW all YOUR WORK.
X.....Y
1 ... 1.25
2 ... 2.5
3 ... 3.75
4 ... 5.0
5 ... 6.25
a) What would be the SLOPE of this regression line?
b) Would the correlation between x and y be positive or negative?
c) How would you interpret these data in terms of linear regression?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X.....Y
1 ... 1.25
2 ... 2.5
3 ... 3.75
4 ... 5.0
5 ... 6.25
a) What would be the SLOPE of this regression line?
The slope is the change in y when x changes by 1.
Notice that the y-change is 1.25 when x changes by 1.
slope = 1.25
----------------------
b) Would the correlation between x and y be positive or negative?
Since y increases when x increases the correlation is positive.
------------------------------
c) How would you interpret these data in terms of linear regression?
y = 1.25x
