Question 635773: Solve by graphing 3x+y=2 and y=2x-2 and estimate the point of intersection.
I am homeschooled & my parents & I have been trying to figure this one out. We have been able to find the graph line for 3x+ y=2 but not the 2nd. The teacher's guide give us the final graph with coordinates of (4/5, -2/5). Thank you,

Hi,
Note: easiest points to find is when x = 0 or y = 0
3x+ y = 2, 2 Pts(x,y) on this line (0,2) and (2/3, 0) Green Line
y = 2x-2, 2 Pts(x,y) on this line (0,-2) and (1, 0) Blue Line
Plot respective points and connect with their respective line
Tough to determine on graph:
substituting y =( 2x-2) also works:
3x + 2x-2 = 2,
5x = 4,
x = 4/5 and y = 8/5 - 10/5 = -2/5
