Question 598772: Hi,
Would you pls tell me if this is a trick question? Or it's just an easy one & the answer is really p=100?
. If p varies directly with q, and p = 10 when q = 2, what is the value of p when q = 20?
Thanks a lot,

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Would you pls tell me if this is a trick question? Or it's just an easy one & the answer is really p=100?
. If p varies directly with q, and p = 10 when q = 2, what is the value of p when q = 20?
.
Yes, you are correct.
.
When you see "direct variation" think:
p = kq
where k is a constant
.
you can find the constant because they give you:
p = 10 when q = 2
plug above into:
p = kq
10 = k(2)
5 = k
.
the general equation is then:
p = 5q
when q = 20
p = 5(20)
p = 100
