You can put this solution on YOUR website!
consider the following equation.
8y + 5x = -7
(a) Solve the equation for y. ( Do not use mixed numbers in your answer) y=
8y + 5x = -7
     8y = -7 - 5x
     8y%2F8 = %28-7%29%2F8 - 5%2F8x
      y = -7%2F8 - 5%2F8x

(b) Find three solutions of the equation.

Substitute x = 2

      y = %28-7%29%2F8 - 5%2F8(2)
      y = -7%2F8 - 10%2F8
      y = -17%2F8

So one solution is (2,-17%2F8) and we've ruled out the third and fourth
answer. There is no need to substitute x = 4 because y = -27%2F8 is the
same in the first three answers. So:

substitute x = 6

      y = %28-7%29%2F8 - 5%2F8(6)
      y = -7%2F8 - 30%2F8
      y = -37%2F8

So another solution is (2,-37%2F8). So the first answer
is the correct one.
