Question 555060: Good Morning,
I am having a problem understanding and seeing how to graph the following inequality. Could someone show me the graph and explain it to me? Here is the inequality:
3x-2y<-6
Hope to hear from someone soon.
Sincerely,
T
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 3x - 2y < -6
Put the equation in the point/slope format
-2y < -3x - 6
Get rid all those negatives, mult by -1, this reverses the inequality sign
2y > 3x + 6
divide both sides by 2
y > x +
y > 1.5x + 3, this is the equation we want to graph
:
Graph this for x=-3 and x=+3
y = 1.5(-3) + 3
y = -4.5 + 3
y = -1.5
and
y = 1.5(3) + 3
y = 4.5 + 3
y = 7.5
:
We graph points -3,-1.5 and 3,7.5
You want to shade the area above the line
