Question 529629: How do I solve this system of linear equations? This is the problem: x-4=y, y/2 plus 5=2x Just to let you know I need a high level of explanation, or a lot of detail in your explanation. Please dont assume I know a lot about this subject. You can put this solution on YOUR website! multiplying by 2 to clear the fraction from the 2nd eqn ___ y + 10 = 4x (all the terns are multiplied)
subtracting 10 to find y ___ y = 4x - 10
you now have an equivalent value for y that you can SUBSTITUTE into the 1st eqn
x - 4 = 4x - 10 ___ subtracting x and adding 10 ___ 6 = 3x
solve for x and substitute the value into any of the eqns to find y
