SOLUTION: I am giving the coordinates of an asteroid of (8,8)
the coordinates of Earth are (0,0)
given the equation y=17/16x-1/2 will the path of the asteroid impact earth? I can not seem

Question 465039: I am giving the coordinates of an asteroid of (8,8)
the coordinates of Earth are (0,0)
given the equation y=17/16x-1/2 will the path of the asteroid impact earth? I can not seem to find out how to figure this out. Answer by richard1234(7193) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! If the asteroid is assumed to be a point-mass (e.g. negligible volume) and gravity is ignored, it will not hit Earth because the line y = (17/16)x - 1/2 does not include the point (0,0).
