Any linear equation with an undefined slope MUST be a vertical line.
The vertical line is an equation in the form
where c is some number.
Since we know it goes through the point (-8,1), we know that the x value is -8.
This is true for any point that this line passes through.
Thus, the equation for this line is
Notice that there is no y variable or slope in this equation, since the usual slope-intercept for is
where m is the slope, and b is the y-intercept.
As far as linear equations go, vertical lines (such as the one in this problem) are the only exception to the traditional slope-intercept form.
