SOLUTION: Please show me how to graph 8x+3Y>24
I know 8x+3y=24
Subtract 8x from both sides; 3y=8x-24
Divide both sides by 3; y = 8/3x - 8
Is that correct?
If so,how do I put it on
Question 352688: Please show me how to graph 8x+3Y>24
I know 8x+3y=24
Subtract 8x from both sides; 3y=8x-24
Divide both sides by 3; y = 8/3x - 8
Is that correct?
If so,how do I put it on the graph? What are the points? Where do I draw the line?
If it's not correct, what is the correct way?
Thank you!

Find the x and y intercepts.
To find the x-intercept, set y=0 and solve for x.

To find the y-intercept, set x=0 and solve for y.

Plot those two points and connect them with a line.

Now choose a point not on the line.
(,) is convenient.
Test the inequality.
If the inequality is satisfied, then (,) is in the solution region, shade that region.
If not, then shade the other region.
False, so shade the region that doesn't contain (,)

Answer by sofiyac(983) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website! Jill, your equation in slope intercept form is correct
Method 1
So now all you do is plug in two random values for x and find the corresponding y values. Plot the points and conncect the dots (you need a minimum of 2 points to graph a line).
x=0 y=-8
x=3 y=0
Plot those points and connect the lines.
Method 2
Another way to graph is using the slope and y intercept. You already put your formula in slope intercept form, so now what you do is plug in x=0 and you get y=-8 (which is also one of my points in method 1). Ok so now you plot that point (0,-8) and then you use the slope (which is the coefficient of the x term when the equation is in slope intercept form) which is 8/3. Slope gives you rise/run. So from (0,-8) you go 8 points UP and 3 points to the RIGHT. (If slope was negative then you would have gone 8 points down and 3 to the right).
