Most people know what "graph paper" is
It's a paper filled with small squares.
Just pick any corner of a square somewhere
near the middle of the page. Draw a horizontal
line through the point.
Draw a vertical line through the same point.
A graph is a series of connected points.
Suppose you want to plot the point (3,5).
This says: "go to the right from the point you
picked 3 squares. Then go up from the point you picked
5 squares. This is the point (3,5)
Suppose you want to plot the point (-3,-5).
This says: "go to the left from the point you
picked 3 squares. Then go down from the point you picked
5 squares. This is the point (-3,-5)
