Question 316872: Write the standard form (ax+by=c) of the equation of the line with the following conditions.
1. Through: (1,2) Slope; 7
What i have tried: i have tried to graph it. i used the slope. And after that i got lost, because i dont understand the question itself. HELP, please
?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1. Through: (1,2) Slope; 7
Y=mX+b where m=slope & b=Y intercept.
2=7*1+b
2=7+b
b=2-7
b=-5 ans. for the Y intercept.
Y=7x-5
To find the X intercept set Y=0.
0=7x-5
7x=5
X=5/7 ans. for the X intercept.

-----------------------
Graphing it is ok, but it's not asked for.
You know the slope, m = 7, so find the y-intercept.
Use the point and y = mx + b to find b, the y-intercept.
2 = 7*1 + b
b = -5
-------
That makes the equation y = 7x - 5 in slope-intercept form
7x - y = 5 is the "standard form" asked for
-----------
7x - y = 5 is the answer.
