Question 308729: Solve each of the following inequalities and graph the solution
y-3>=5
I guess that this needs a solution set, not y>=8, and I don't really know how to get a solution set, I have a number of other problems of this sort, so if someone could please explain how to get a solution set I'd be most thankful

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The solution set is {y|y>=8} . Of course, you should use the official ">=" symbol.

Use set braces around the answer. The vertical line means "such that".

{y|y>=8} is read "The set, of all values of y, such that, y is greater than or equal to 8.

I'm with you! I don't like it either, but the mathematicians of the world just LOVE this formal notation and THEORY of math!!
