for a direct variation the equation is:
+k=y%2Fx+
so using the first point ...
+k+=+1%2F2+ plug this and (6, y) into the equation
+k=y%2Fx+
+1%2F2=y%2F6+ solve for y
since 2 * 3 = 6
then 1 * 3 = 3
y = 3
