How do you change standard form to slope-intercept, and vice versa? I need someone to explain on an 8th grade level please! HELP!!!
:
Change the following into the slope intercept form
3x + 4y = 16
Subtract 3x from both sides, and you have:
4y = -3x + 16
We want y to have a coefficient of +1, divide both sides by 4, results
y = -3%2F4x + 16%2F4
y = -3%2F4x + 4, is the slope intercept form
:
To convert this to the standard form, get rid of the denominator
multiply by 4
4y = -3x + 16
Add 3x to both sides
3x + 4y = 16

The "standard form" uses integers, and the x's and y's are on the same side.
For the slope-intercept form, solve for y.
