Question 258081: Can you PLEASE HELP ME Find the equation of a line parallel to the line y=2x+4 that passes through the point (1,3. write the equation of the line in slope - intercept form : y=mx+b. Im having a hard time understanding this problem. Im not that great at math so if you could help me with this step by step so i can get the bet understanding of this. i would really appreciate it more than anything.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the equation of the original line is already in slope-intercept form (y = mx + b)

parallel lines have the same slope (m) so the equation of the new line will be y = 2x + ?

to find ?, just substitute the x and y values of the given point
___ 3 = 2(1) + ? ___ 1 = ?

so the equation of the new line is ___ y = 2x + 1
