You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Slope is the relationship between vertical gain and horizontal gain. Slope tells you how fast you are going up (or down in the case of a negative number) in relationship to how fast you are moving horizontally. If you gain one unit of elevation (the y-axis) for every unit of horizontal movement (the x-axis) your slope is one.

The formula for slope is slope = gain in y divided by gain in x = y2-y1/x2-x1, where 2 is the second position and 1 is the original position. This change in position is often represented by the Greek letter delta which looks like a triangle.

For your first set of points, slope = 9-4/3-1 = 5/2 = 2.5
For your second set of points, slope = -2-7/-5-(-9) = -9/4 = -2.25

Are you getting this?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Formula for a slope= %28Y2-Y1%29%2F%28X2-X1%29
(1,4) (3,9)
slope=%289-4%29%2F%283-1%29
slope=5%2F2
and
(-9,7) (-5,-2)
slope=%28-2-7%29%2F%28-5--9%29
slope=-9%2F4
and
(3,-6) (3,4) and
slope=%284--6%29%2F%283-3%29
slope=10%2F0
zero slope = undefined
(4,-3) (-1,-3)
slope=%28-3--3%29%2F%28-1-4%29
slope=0%2F3
zero slope=undefined
Hope you understand
