SOLUTION: when doing systems of equations and graphing, i have a problem that reads
4x - 20 = 5y
8x - 10y = 12
i know how to graph the first equation but how do i graph the second

Question 241225: when doing systems of equations and graphing, i have a problem that reads
4x - 20 = 5y
8x - 10y = 12
i know how to graph the first equation but how do i graph the second equation? i was told by my instructor to solve using the intercept points by substuting the exponent with zero (4 * 0) - 20 = 5y and solve then sub zero for the other exponent and then graph the line but with the second equation the numbers come out in fraction form and i can not figure out how to graph the intercepts. any and all help would be appreciated...

You can put this solution on YOUR website! when doing systems of equations and graphing, i have a problem that reads
4x - 20 = 5y
8x - 10y = 12
--------------------------
Solve each for "y"
y = (-4/5)x - 4
Plot points: (0,-4)(5,0)
-----------------------------------------------
y = (4/5)x-(6/5)
Plot points: (-1,-2)(4,2)
--------------------------
Both together:
