Question 22170: how do you rewrite linear equations as ax+by=c

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
ex:
Write the linear equation y=-5x+6;
ax=-5x
by=1y
c=6
SO your equation would be;
5x+y=6
Standard form would be;
ax+by=c
5x+y-6=0
If you know the slope and the y-intercept of a line, you can write the equation of the line in standard form;
Write a linear equation in standard form for aline that has slope m=3 and y-intersept b=-4;
Write the equation in slope-intercept form;
y=3x+-4
Rewrite the equation as a variable expresion equal to zero;
y-y=3x-y+-4
0=3x-y+-4
You always want a to be positive so if necessary, multiply both sides by -1. In this case though a is already positive;
so we end with;
3x-y-4=0
Hope you understand
=)
