Question 201977: 4x - y = 27
4x - 5y = -15
What is the ordered pair?
Is the system consistent or inconsistent?
Is it dependent or independent?
Can someone also give me a break down of how to do this because I am very confused! Thank you!: Solve the system of equations by graphing. Then classify the system.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve the system of equations:
1) 4x-y+=+27
2) 4x-5y+=+-15 Subtract equation 2) from equation 1) to eliminate the x-variable.
4y+=+42 Now divide both sides by 4.

4x-10.5+=+27 Add 10.5 to both sides.
4x+=+37.5 Now divide both sides by 4.

The ordered pair is: (9.375, 10.5)
There is at least one solution so the system is a consistent system.
Consistent systems of equations can be dependent or independent.
If the system has exactly one solution, as in this problem, the equations are are said to be independent equations.
Here's the graph of the system: Red = equation 1) and green = equation 2)
