Question 195330: How do you determine the slope and y-intercept of this?
x=-2 Found 2 solutions by Mathtut, doukungfoo:Answer by Mathtut(3670) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x=-2 is a vertical line
:
slope is undefined and it is parallel to the y axis so there is no y intercept
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x = -2
is a vertical line that goes through the x axis at -2
because for every point on the line x always equals -2
Now remember that the slope of a line is rise over run
So lets apply rise over run to a vertical line. If you start at point (-2,0) and rise up 1 unit then you have the rise as 1. But since it is a vertical line the run is zero. So rise/run for this line would be 1/0
However we cannot divide a number by zero so we say that the slope for a vertical line is undefined.
