Dental services. The national cost C in billions of dollars for dental services can be modeled by the linear equation C = 2.85n + 30.52, where n is the number of years since 1990
a) Find and interpret the C-intercept for the line.
b) Find and interpret the n-intercept for the line.
a)the C-intercept is 30.52 and is the national cost in billions for the year 1990
:
b)set C=0 and solve for n for the n intercept 0=2.85n+30.52-->2.85n=-30.52
:
n=-10.71 so (-10.71,0) is the coordinates of the n intercept.
:
the interpretation of this is that the cost was 0 in the year 1979..
:
1990-10.71=1979
