Question 134823: I know I have to set this to Y= in order to find the points for the x and y intercept, but honestly my brain just quit on me. I need to graph the following:
Graph 2x-5y=10.
I have 2x-2x-5y=10-2x
-5y = -2x+12
-5y/-5= -2x+12
---------
-5
My answer was y=2/5x+12
But I know that's not right. The correct answer is y=2x/5+2
that is y= 2x over 5+2
Please help! Ever have one of those days your brain refuses to do anything but be jello?? lol BTW-This is not from a textbook. It is a worksheet.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Graph 2x-5y=10
5y = 2x-10
y = (2/5)x-2
----------------
Let x=0, then y = -2
Let x=5, then y = 0
------------------------
Plot (0,-2) and (5,0) then draw a line thru them.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Graph 2x-5y=10.
I have 2x-2x-5y=10-2x
-5y = -2x+12
-5y/-5= -2x+12

2x-2x-5y=10-2x That's ok.

-5y=-2x%2B12 Where did the 12 come from? It is still 10.

-5y=-2x%2B10 Now you can divide both sides by -5

%28-5y%29%2F-5=%28-2x%2B10%29%2F-5

y=%282%2F5%29x-2 which is the same thing as y=2x%2F5-2 and it is most assuredly -2 not +2 as you indicated. That is unless you stated the problem incorrectly in the first place and it really is 2x-5y=-10
