Find any two convenient points on the graph, plot them and draw a straight line
through them.  Arbitrarily let x = 1.  Substitute 1 for x:

y = 51x - 5
y = 51(1) - 5
y = 51 - 5
y = 46

Draw a dot which is directly over where x=1 and where y=46. 
(just guess about where that would be, looking at the numbers). 
 
 

Arbitrarily let x = -1.  Substitute -1 for x:

y = 51x - 5
y = 51(-1) - 5
y = -51 - 5
y = -56

Draw a dot which is directly over where x=-1 and where y=-56. 
(just guess about where that would be, looking at the numbers). 

 

Now draw a straight line through those two points, and that's your graph.
Different people in your class will choose different points, but they will
have the same graph of a line.
