Hi,
In 2014,there were 100 students enrolled
and in 2018 there were 200 students enrolled
How many students were enrolled in 2019?
Let x represent the number of years after 2010 and y the number of students.
(4, 100)
(8, 200) m = 100/4 = 25/year
that is: there were NO students in 2010 y-intercept 1s (0, 0)
y = 25x x the independent variable and y the dependent variable
y = 25*9 = 225 the number of students were enrolled in 2019

Formulation of this problem is made by a person ILLITERATE in Math.
It MAKES NO SENSE until the condition says directly and explicitly that the function
is LINEAR (or CLOSE to linear).
