A hammer was dropped from the pocket of a constructor from a height of 288 ft building and falls toward the earth in a straight line.In t seconds the hammer drops a distance of s=32t^2 ft.
How many seconds after drop does the hammer hit the ground?
----------------------
s = 32t^2 = 288
t^2 = 9
t = 3 seconds.
--------------------
However, I don't think s = 32t^2 is correct on Earth.
Its speed at t seconds = 32t ft/sec, but the distance is 16t^2 feet, usually descending is negative ----> -16t^2 feet.

.

The formula s = 32t^2 in your post is INCORRECT.

The correct version is s = 16t^2, where "s" is in feet, "t" is in seconds.
