Vertex form: y=a(x-h)^2+k (h,k) is the vertex


y=2x%5E2-12x%2B22
y=2%28x%5E2-6x%29%2B22 1. Factor out 2 to make sure the coefficient of x^2 = 1
y=2%28x%5E2-6x%2B9-9%29%2B22 2. Add and subtract (b/2)^2 inside the parentheses
y=2%28x-3%29%5E2-18%2B22 3. Factor into the form of (x-b)^2
y=2%28x-3%29%5E2%2B4 This is the vertex form.
