Question 1133808: I need help understanding this problem and how to work the problem out.
Problem: For the straight line defined by the points (1,59) and (3,87), determine the slope and y-intercept. Do not round the answers.
m=slope b=y-intercept

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
m=%2887-59%29%2F%283-1%29=14

Using the point-slope equation form and choosing the given point (1,59):
y-59=14%28x-1%29
y=14x-14%2B59
y=14x%2B45--------now in the slope-intercept form and you just read the y-intercept from the equation

y-intercept is (0,45).
