Question 1110467: Hello Online Tutors!
Here's my question:
Wendy babysits for the Crest family every Saturday night. She charges $10 per hour for the first 4 hours and 50% more for time after the first 4 hours. She is paid the full hourly rate for any part of an hour she works. Wendy's parents do not let her babysit for more than 8 hours. Draw a graph showing how much money Wendy can earn.
I know that this will be a step function, but I'm not that sure what to take 50% of.
Thank you to anyone that can help!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
The coordinate system has "hours" as the horizontal axis and "earned dollars" as vertical axis.

The plot of the accumulated Wendy' salary consists of two straight line segmemts.

One segment, at 0 <= t <= 4 hours, is the straight line going from (0,0) with the slope of 10/1 per hour.

It comes to the point (t,Salary) = (4,40).

The second segment starts from this point (4,40) and going to the right and up with the slope 15/1.
