direct variation means that x and y both get bigger or smaller together
(with inverse variation, one gets bigger while the other gets smaller)

the general equation for direct variation is y=kx ... k is called the constant of variation

the problem is asking you to find k and write the equation ... hint: plug in the values of the point to find k
