so I could identify the slope and y-intercept

I can multiply both sides by +-1+
+x+%2B+2y+=+1+
Subtract +x+ from both sides
+2y+=+-x+%2B+1+
Divide both sides by +2+
+y+=+-%281%2F2%29%2Ax+%2B+1%2F2+

The slope is +-1%2F2+
y-intercept is +1%2F2+
