the x-intercepts are when the graph crosses the x-axis, y=0 at this point
0=x^2+x-6 ... factoring gives 0=(x+3)(x-2)
x+3=0 so x=-3 ... x-2=0 so x=2
-3 and 2 are the x-intercepts
