Question 33121: In my math class we are doing Functions right now. The specific three we are using are Linear, Quadratic, and Exponential. Linear is y=mx+b, Quadratic is y=ax^2(+b) and Exponential is y=a*b^x. Each problem gives ordered pairs, or a table. I'll show you a table, and my answer, which I do not believe to be correct, since when I plug in some numbers from the table, doesnt not equal out.
EX:
X Y
-2 1.5
0 .5
2 -.5
4 -1.5
y=-x +.5
Now, that is how my math teacher taught us to solve it; find the slope, y intercept when x=0, etc, and when you plug numbers in from the table, my answer does not work. Obviously, since you are very intelligent, you will be able to see my flaw. Thank you.

The formula used to calculate the percentage of body fat for men is:
% Body fat = (-98.42 + 4.15w – 0.082 b) / b
Where “w” is the waist measurement in inches and “b” is the total body weight in pounds
What is the body fat for a man weighing 156 pounds and waist measurement of 32 inches. Round the percentage to the nearest interger.

In 1992, there were 4,032 Ace Hardware Stores, while that number had decreased to 3,682 in 2002. Write a function that represents the number of stores, N, in terms of the year, letting t=0 represent the year 1992. Then use your function to predict the number of stores that will exist in the year 2007. Theoretically, in what year will there be NO Ace Hardware stores left??

This is Grade 11 University Math, it is a TIPS problem that we got to take home but I'll have to re-write it in class with a different but similar question.
