How can you tell if this is a linear function and Why? How do you find the equation for this data.
I say yes this is a linear function because there is only one input per output, but I do not know why?
The equation I think is y = mx + b, I do not know how to put in the numbers.

Question 45203: Find the maximum or minimum value of the function
f(t)= 10t^2 + 40t + 113
t = -40/(2*10) = -40/20 = -2 minimum
10(t^2 + 4t) + 113
10(t^2 + 4t +4) + 113 - 40
10(t + 2)^2 + 73
y = 73

Question 45202: Find the maximum or minimum value of the function:
f(x) = 1 + 3x -x^2
= x^2 + 3x + 1
=-(x^2 -3x + 2.25) +1 + 2.25
=-(x^2 -3x + 2.25) + 3.25
x= -b/2a = -3/2(-1) = 3/2 = max 1.5
y = 3.25

Question 45205: Find the maximum or minimum value of the function
f(x) = -x^2/3 + 2x + 7
x = 2/2(-1/3) = 2/(-2/3)= (2/1)(3/2)= 3 maximum
(-x^2 + 6x + 21 /3) = ((-x^2 + 6x + 9) + 21 + 9)/3)
= (-(x + 3)^2 + 30)/3
= -(x + 3)^2 + 10
y = 10

Question 45520: Use the property of Inverse Functions to show that f and g are inverses of each other:
f(x) = x^3 + 1; g(x) = (x-1)^(1/3)
f(g(x)) = f((x-1)^1/3) + 1 = x-1 + 1 = x
g(f(x)) = g(x^3 + 1) = (x^3 + 1)^3 + 1 = x + 1 -1 = x
f and g are inverses of each other.

f(x) = 2x, g(x) = x/2
f(g(x)) = f(x/2) = 2(x/2) = x
g(f(x)) = g(2x) = 2(x/2) = x
f and g are inverses of each other, correct?
