Question 906687: Draw the graphs of the following functions. The x- and y-intercepts of each graph should be labeled with their values, any vertex should be labeled with its coordinates. Show each vertical or horizontal asymptotes with a dotted line and label it with its intercept value.

Please explain how I would graph these. Thank you
a. y = | 3x - 9|
b. y = x^3 - 8
c. y = 5 - 3x

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
b. is the simple cubic equation but moved 8 units downward. Instead of the inflection point being at (0,0), it is now moved to (0,-8).

a. is like two lines split and stuck together.

for 3x-9 POSITIVE or ZERO,
3x-9%3E=0
x-3%3E=0
x%3E=3, the interval for x for:
highlight%28y=3x-9%29, for x%3E=3

For 3x-9 NEGATIVE,
The interval for x is x%3C3.
highlight%28y=-3x-9%29, for interval x%3C3.

A sharp corner or vertex is in this graph at x=3.
