Question 899453: hi,
i dont think i picked the right topic for my question.
i have a math Problem that says to solve this equation: f(x)=x^2(x^2-1)-4(x^2-1)
over the summer all the math i learned went out the window. Can You please walk me through the steps i would have to take to solve this problem?
Thank you,

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve or simplify?
f%28x%29=x%5E2%28x%5E2-1%29-4%28x%5E2-1%29
Distributive property
f%28x%29=%28x%5E2-1%29%28x%5E2-4%29
Factor both differences of squares.
f%28x%29=%28x%2B1%29%28x-1%29%28x%2B2%29%28x-2%29
That's as simplified as it gets.

Thank you,

f%28x%29+=+x%5E2%28x%5E2+-+1%29+-+4%28x%5E2+-+1%29
f%28x%29+=+%28x%5E2+-+4%29%28x%5E2+-+1%29
f(x) = (x + 2)(x - 2)(x – 1)(x + 1)
