SOLUTION: I have gone through a lengthy exercise starting with the following f(x) = 3x-2 g(x) = x^2+2 f(x+2)/g(x+1) = (f(2)/g(-1)) - 1 and narrowing the answer to 0 = x^2 - 7x - 9.

Question 825194: I have gone through a lengthy exercise starting with the following
f(x) = 3x-2
g(x) = x^2+2
f(x+2)/g(x+1) = (f(2)/g(-1)) - 1
and narrowing the answer to 0 = x^2 - 7x - 9. But I am having trouble solving for x. What am I missing? (Thanks)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You haven't missed anything. x%5E2-7x-9=0 is correct.

Since the left side does not factor, use the quadratic formula on it.
