g(x)= 1%2F%28%28x%2B5%29+%28x-1%29%29

We just have to leave out the values on the x-axis 
where there are vertical asymptotes:

That is where the denominator = 0

(x + 5)(x - 1) = 0
x+5 = 0  x - 1 = 0
  x = -5     x = 1

The graph is below. Notice that the function does not use 
the values of x where there are vertical asymptotes (where 
the green lines, the asymptotes cross the x-axis
