Question 679800: {(1/3,2),(-2,2/9),(o,2),(-1/2,2/9),(-2,2)} is this a relation a function ornot? explain

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Each member of a relation is an ordered pairs, consisting of

1. A left parenthesis, followed by
2. A number, called "the input", followed by
3. A comma, followed by
4. Another number, called "the output", followed by
5. A right parenthesis.

{(1/3,2),(-2,2/9),(o,2),(-1/2,2/9),(-2,2)}

The inputs are: 1/3, -2, 0, -1/2, -2

The outputs are: 2, 2/9, 2, 2/9, 2

How to determine if this relation is a function or not:

Simply answer this question: Does each input have exactly
one output, and no more?

If the answer is "yes", then the relation is a function.
If the answer is "no", then the relation is not a function.

The answer is "no" for the given relation because these
two ordered pairs:

(-2,2/9) and (-2,2)

have the same input, -2, but different outputs, 2/9 and 2.

Therefore the given relation is not a function.
