I think its true because couldn't direct variations be any ordered pairs but 0?? Could I get confirmation on this?

The graph of a direct variation may pass through (-2,4)
True or false. Explain
--------------
If x varies directly with y, y=kx
Now, could y=4 when x=-2?
If the answer is yes, then:
4=k(-2)
and
k=-2
But K cannot be negative
so if x=-2 y cannot be 4.
