Cycly Paths, Inc. makes bicycles, tricycles, and unicycles. Last week they made 88 more bicycles than unicycles, and 5 times as many tricycles as unicycles. If they made 40 more bicycles than tricycles, how many unicycles did they make?

Let number of unicycles be "x"
Then number of bicycles is "x+88"
Number of tricycles is "5x"
EQUATION:
# bicycles = # tricycles + 40
x+88 = 5x + 40
4x=48
x=12 (this is the number of unicycles)
