Question 560105: We are learning about functions and linear functions. The question is about depreciation. Suppose the cost of a business property is $860,000 and a company depreciates it with the straigh-line method. Suppose y is the value of the property after t years.
How do I set the equation up?
I did this but I honestly don't know what I'm doing: y+t=860000

You can put this solution on YOUR website! We are learning about functions and linear functions. The question is about depreciation. Suppose the cost of a business property is $860,000 and a company depreciates it with the straight-line method. Suppose y is the value of the property after t years.
How do I set the equation up?
I did this but I honestly don't know what I'm doing:
-----
Total depreciation after t years is 860,000-y
-----------------------------------------------
Each year the property depreciates (860,000-y)/t
-----
Equation:
y = (860,000-y)/t
