A function can be represented as a set of ordered pairs where the set of all the first components is the domain and the set of all of the second ordered components is the range. If each ordered pair (a,b) is replaced by (b,a), is the new set still a function?

Consider which has the following graph and is clearly a function:



But replacing all of the ordered pairs as stated results in:



Which is clearly not a function. However consider :



and its inverse :



Both of which are functions.
