If f is a linear function and f(0)=10 and f(10)=14, find f(5) and f(-5).

If f is a linear function and f(0)=10 and f(10)=14,
Convert to x and y values
f(0)=10: x1=0, y1=10
f(10)=14: x2=10, y2=14
Find the slope
m = %2814-10%29%2F%2810-0%29 = 4/10, or +.4

Find the equation
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - 10 = .4(x - 0)
y = .4x + 10 is the equation

find f(5)
y = .4(5) + 10
y = 2 + 10
y = 12
