Question 313037: how do you find the domain and range of this function: F(x)=x-6

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
This is a linear function, whose graph has no restrictions on x. Therefore, the domain is all real values, or (-inf,inf).

Since the line goes all the way "upward" and all the way "downward," the range is also all real values, or (-inf, inf).

For an alternate explanation of FUNCTIONS, DOMAIN, and RANGE, including TWO FREE videos, please see own my website by clicking on my tutor name "Rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com. Then click on the link there to my website. From my Homepage, look for the link "Math in Living Color." Look for either "Intermediate Algebra" and look in Chapter 5, OR look in "College Algebra" and look in Chapter 2. This is FULL of examples, exercises, and answers to all the exercises. My own students used to tell me that my explanations are much easier to understand than the traditional textbooks. Perhaps you will like this section.

I also have a video (actually 2 videos!) on the topic of FUNCTIONS, DOMAIN, and RANGE. To see the videos, from my Homepage, look for the link "Rapalje Videos in Living Color." Choose either "Intermediate Algebra" or "College Algebra", depending upon your level of algebra skills.

I just want to make math easier for people who have trouble with math. It's usually not as hard as everyone thinks it is. The website has a lot of resources--all FREE.
