Question 245921: if you have a f(x)=3x+9x(4) problen or that type of problem on atest would your answer be wrong if you just put =the answer, so does it have to be in an ordered pair??? Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
It depends on how the question was worded. If it asks you to describe a point on the graph of f(x) given some particular value of x, then an ordered pair with the coordinates x and the value of the function at x would be correct. On the other hand, if the test question asked what the value of the function at some number was, then a single number answer would be appropriate. If that doesn't make sense, write back giving me the exact wording of the question and any associated instructions.
