Consider the function y=x to the second power. what is the range?
.
Since y can never be a negative, the range is:

That is,
All real number greater than or equal to 0.

Consider the function y=x to the second power. what is the range?
----------------------
The y values are the square of "x".
But the square of Real Numbers is never negative.
So the Range is "All Real Numbers >= 0".
