Question 979377: Solve for x in the equation x%5E2-%28a%2B3b%29x%2B3ab=0.
What I have tried so far is to try and plug the equation into the quadratic formula and ended up with x=%28-a-3b%2Bsqrt%28%28a%5E2%2B6ab%2Bab%5E2%29-12ab%29%29%2F2
From there it doesn't seem like something that can be solved.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You made one very obvious mistake.

Coefficient on x is -%28a%2B3b%29.
The general solution formula starts with -%28-%28a%2B3b%29%29=a%2B3b.
Look for other possible mistakes, too, and fix them.

The equation might or might not be solvable, but at least you can correct your beginning work.
