Question 79992: Alex drove 500 miles in 15 days.
At the same rate, how long would it take Alex to drive 5,000 miles?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! there's two ways to solve this one
logic: if it took 15 days to drive 500 miles then it would take 10 times as much to drive a distance ten times further at the same speed, since 5000 is ten times more than 500, meaning 500(10)=5000
so all you have to do is multiply the number of days it took to drive 500 miles by ten
15(10)=150
math: i always do these ratio kind of problems this way (it would only apply if the speed is the same)
it took 15 days to drive 500
then it would take x to drive 5000
i write then down like this
15 --- 500
x --- 5000
then i multiply across
15(5000)=500x
divide both sides by 500, then you get
15(5000)/500=x
x=150
